South Georgia DE/LB picks up new offers

Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes defensive end/linebacker B.J. Wright picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Alabama early in the recruiting process and has now picked up two more.
“The newest offers I have are Ball State and Central Florida,” Wright said. “Alabama offered a while back though, so I have three offers now. The Alabama offer is in writing, the other two are just verbal offers.”

Wright attended the NIKE camp in Atlanta where he came in at 6-foot-2, 211 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.66 seconds. He plays defensive end for his high school team, but it is looking more and more like he will play linebacker on the next level.
“Central Florida and Ball State told me that they were offering me as a linebacker,” Wright said. “Alabama didn’t really say what they were offering me as. Either position is cool with me, I don’t care all that much as long as I get the opportunity to play somewhere.”
He did 24 reps on the bench press and has a 350-pound bench press max in addition to a 450-pound squat. He ran the shuttle 4.34 seconds and had a 33-inch vertical jump at the NIKE camp.
“My favorites right now are Florida State, Central Florida, Georgia, Florida and Alabama,” Wright said. “I really want to go to Florida State, I have always loved them and it is close to home. Alabama might be a little too far from home, but they have offered. I have just recently started hearing from Florida State so I am hoping that is going to go somewhere.”
The only camps he has attended so far this summer was an FCA camp held at North Carolina and the NIKE camp in Atlanta. Wright says he has no other camp plans.
As a junior Wright was named to the class 5A all-state team as well as the all-region team. He was also an all-region selection as a sophomore. In his all-state campaign in 2003 Wright racked up 35 unassisted tackles, 28 assisted tackles, 14 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
