While he's not quite ready to pull the trigger on a commitment, three-star South Fort Myers (Fla.) offensive/defensive lineman Joe Fennell is getting close. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Fennell said on Monday that he's narrowed his choices down to Florida, South Carolina and Nebraska.
"My top three are Florida, South Carolina and Nebraska," said Fennell, who also has offers from Florida State, Miami, Georgia and several others. "I plan on visiting them real soon."
Fennell's decision may come down to whichever school gives him the opportunity to play on the defensive side of the ball. Most schools like him as an offensive lineman but he said he prefers defense.
"I like defense," Fennell said. "I really don't mind playing offense but if I had a choice I'd play defense."
Of his final three, he said two schools are recruiting him for defense, while one wants him on the O-line.
"I know Florida would like to see me at guard or tackle," Fennell said. "And South Carolina and Nebraska at defensive tackle."
Fennell added that he hasn't set a timeline for his decision and that he plans to visit all three campuses before making a commitment.
