South Florida LB picks up first two offers

Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay linebacker Phil Walker has had a busy spring and summer already attending camps, working out, participating in 7 on 7s and generally making himself a better football players. Recently all his hard work has begun to pay off as the 6-foot-1 210-pounder picked up his first two official offers.
"It was a big relief for me that I finally got those two," Walker said. "I was real happy discussing with my mom and dad. It was Northern Illinois and Middle Tennessee."

Walker had been hearing from the coaching staffs at both programs and after his academic standing was confirmed, the offer came quickly.
"The Northern Illinois offer, I was kind of expecting it he was just waiting on my transcript," he said. "The coach loved me as a football player so I brought [a transcript] and he said now you can get it done on the field and in the classroom. He loved me football-wise and he just wanted to make sure on my grades."
Walker has also been receiving heavy interest from a couple of Northeastern programs.
"Rutgers and Boston College have been showing me a lot of interest," he said. "Boston College I'll be up there the 25th of this month. They said they're real interested and also Kansas State. I'm also talking to Miami-Ohio, Kent State and Western Kentucky."
In the coming weeks, Walker has put together a busy schedule for camps and workouts hoping to increase his offer list. He begins the circuit with Florida's one-day camp on Tuesday.
"I'm going to South Florida Saturday on the 21st then we go to Rutgers on the 23rd, then I'm going to Boston College on the 25th," he said. "That's going to be my road trip and them I'm going to settle down and get into my offseason workout with my team and focus on winning state."
The speedy and athletic outside backer is going into the camp circuit with a focused mentality and feels like he has a lot to prove.
"I'm hungry right now," he said. "I'm a hungry man. I'm just going to go to these colleges to show them that I'm just as good as the guy they offered and I want respect. The big schools they've been showing me interest but not real big interest. So when I go up to these schools, I'm going to show them who Phil Walker is. If Boston College and Rutgers offer hopefully these other schools wake up. If they don't I'll just have to show them when the lights cut on this fall."
