South Florida LB high on LSU

One of nation’s top outside linebacker prospects is narrowing his list down a bit heading into his senior season.
Miami (Fla.) Edison standout Brouce Mompremier has identified a leader in LSU and named N.C. State, Michigan State, Maryland and Florida State to round out his top five.

“LSU is up there real strong right now,” he said. “I really like their defensive scheme and the coaches who have been recruiting me. They were the first to offer, and they’ve given me the most attention the whole time.
“Jimbo Fisher is my recruiting coach. He makes me feel real comfortable, like he’s just one of the guys. You can talk and get down with him. I like that.”
Mompremier (6-0, 210, 4.6) has offers from LSU, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, N.C. State and Ohio State, among others.
Does anyone have a shot at closing the gap on the Bayou Bengals?
“N.C. State is closest,” he said. “Again, it’s mainly because of my recruiting coach, Doc Holliday. He’s another good guy, just like coach Fisher at LSU. I think their program is on the rise, too. I’ve watched them play Florida State the last couple of years because Florida State was always my team when I was younger. It really impressed me how they played them.”
And how do things stand with the Seminoles?
“I always thought that’s where I’d end up,” Mompremier said, “but it’s been kind of shaky lately. They haven’t stayed in touch with me as much as the other schools. I wouldn’t count them out, though. I still like them. It’s just that I really like the way LSU and N.C. State has recruited me.”
As a junior, Mompremier had 118 tackles and 13 sacks to earn Class 5A all-state honors.
Academically, he has scored a 20 on the ACT and owns a 3.6 GPA.
