The 5-foot-11, 150-pounder, who has been timed this summer as fast as 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash, is impressed with the Hurricanes program.
"I think it's a good program, football and academics," he said. "Miami, LSU and Ohio State are recruiting me the hardest."
D.J. McCarthy is recruiting Benjamin for LSU.
"He's been saying mostly what everybody else says," he said. "He's a good guy."
Benjamin has several camps on the horizon.
"We go to Gainesville, Fla., on July 20 and then the 21-28 we are going to be in New Jersey and New York," he said. "Florida, they are saying good stuff. They want me to come up there for their Friday Night Lights thing. They invited me to come, so I am going."
Benjamin plans to take official visits and is a long way from making a final decision.
"I'm going to wait it out," he said.
Benjamin is the No. 84 overall prospect in the state of Florida according to Rivals.com.
