South Carolina WR close to decision

The Palmetto State’s leading wide receiver in 2003 is inching closer to a college decision.
Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes wide receiver Jomar Wright, who caught 101 passes for 1,812 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior, says he’s narrowed his list to three schools.

”Kentucky’s probably in the leader’s spot, but I’m going to wait for all my visits to make it official,” he said. “I’m keeping an open mind to Duke and Wake Forest as well. I’ll be going to Duke this weekend (Jan. 9) and Wake Forest the next weekend (Jan. 16).”
Wright (6-2, 185, 4.5) made a mid-week official visit to Kentucky on Dec. 18 prior to playing in the Shrine Bowl pitting the South Carolina All-Stars against the North Carolina All-Stars.
“I liked the players and coaches up at Kentucky,” he said. “The overall atmosphere was real nice. I liked their attitudes. They didn’t have the kind of record they wanted this year, but they were in a lot of close games. They were very confident that they’re going to turn those close losses in to wins and start a nice tradition there.
“I was thinking about committing because they’re running out of scholarships. They told me they only have about three left, so if I was sure I wanted to go there, I needed to think about that. But I want to give Duke and Wake Forest a fair shot before I decide.”
