Todd Spitzer has scheduled his first two official visits.
Spitzer (6-5, 220, 4.9) will visit Tulane on Jan. 10
and Cincinnati on Jan. 17. He's also receiving regular calls from
Rutgers, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Louisville, Auburn, Ole Miss and
Texas.
"I'm still waiting for that first offer, but
Cincinnati and Tulane kind of sound like they're close," he said.
"Cincinnati is No. 1 for me right now because of coach (Rick) Minter and his
philosophy. I've been up for two games there. We went to the UAB game on
Saturday and the Memphis game earlier this year. I liked the stadium and the
way the team played."
Spitzer said Rutgers was a close third on his list
and likely to receive an official visit, especially if a scholarship offer
develops.
He quarterbacked a "smashmouth" type offensive
attack at Hillcrest High School this year, but still managed to pass for
almost 700 yards despite throwing the ball only 8-10 times a game. His
frame, strong arm and pocket presence have helped overshadow the lack of
glaring statistics.
Cincinnati has informed him it will make an in-home
visit this month.l
