South Carolina QB talks about top five

Junior To Watch: Paul Cianciolo
School: Fort Dorchester, S.C.

Position: Quarterback
Size and speed: Cianciolo is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.77 seconds. He has a 230-pound bench press, 315-pound squat, and 230-pound power clean.
Honors: All-region and second team All-low country.
Statistics: Cianciolo completed 53 percent of his passes for 2007 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Favorite schools: North Carolina State, Virginia, Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, Colorado, Maryland, Georgia Tech.
Skinny: Cianciolo is a leader for his team. He commands the respect of opposing defenses as he heads into his second year as a starter.
“I like being in control of my team,” he said. “My strength is my arm.”
Cianciolo is a member of the National Honors Society. He is number one in his class with a 4.97 grade point average. Cianciolo boasts a 1,320 score on the SAT and an ACT score of 30. Cianciolo is always looking for ways to improve on the field.
“I am running and in the weight room every day.”
Cianciolo has the size and smarts that college coaches look for in a quarterback.
Cianciolo’s talents in the classroom and on the field have not gone unnoticed. Although he has not received any offers, he is receiving attention from all over the nation.
Cianciolo had the following to say about his top five.
North Carolina State: “The coaching staff is real nice. I plan to attend their spring game and junior camp.”
Virginia: “The facilities are beautiful. The coaches are real nice and coach Ron Prince is a real nice guy.”
Colorado: “They seem like really nice people.”
South Carolina: “They have real good coaches and I think they have really nice facilities.”
Georgia Tech: “I went down to their camp last summer and it was a beautiful campus.”
So does Cianciolo have a favorite at this time?
“I will go where the best opportunity is,” he said. “In state or out of state it makes no difference.”
Cianciolo plans to attend summer football camps at Virginia, North Carolina State, Colorado, Michigan State, Michigan, Duke, and the Nike camp in Gainesville.
