South Carolina QB likes two early

Gaffney (S.C.) quarterback Malcolm Long is coming off a state championship his junior season and has two teams that have caught his eye early in the recruiting process.
"I just got letters from Notre Dame and Tennessee," he said. "Both schools are at the top of my list with high interest."

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Long has two priorities when it comes to his eventual college selection.
"Academics and the football program are the two main reasons for choosing a choosing a school," he said. "One of my teachers went to Notre Dame and tells me what a great school it is.
"Discipline is also a big factor."
While Long, who is awaiting his first official scholarship offer, wants to play quarterback at the next level, he also could potentially play free safety. That position is his second choice.
This season, Long had some ups and downs on the field.
"My junior year had a rocky start," he said. "But we accomplished a lot of things and lead the team to a state championship."
He said he used to consider himself more of a running quarterback like Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons, but now says he sees himself more Peyton Manning of the Colts.
Long plans to attend the Clemson NIKE camp, scheduled for May 21 on the campus of Clemson University.
