South Carolina QB hitting many camps

It’s been a busy summer already for one of South Carolina’s top quarterback prospects.
Fort Dorchester’s Paul Cianciolo visited Wake Forest, Clemson, South Carolina and North Carolina last week and is preparing to head to Maryland later this week.

“It was a real good experience,” he said. “Some of them were just one-day camps, and others were short workouts we had arranged with the coaches. I got to meet all of the head coaches and talk to their coordinators. They all told me I was going to be in their top two or three quarterbacks this year, and that I could be hearing something soon about offers.”
Clemson, South Carolina and Maryland have shown the most interest to date. Virginia, Duke, Georgia Tech and N.C. State have also been on the trail.
“I don’t have a clear-cut favorite right now,” he said. “But I like South Carolina, Clemson, Maryland and Wake Forest quite a bit, both from a football and academic standpoint.”
Academics will be key in his decision. Cianciolo was No. 1 in his class of more than 400 students this year with a 4.97 GPA. He also scored a 30 on his ACT and a 1340 on the SAT. He’s considering pre-law or business as a major field.
On the field, Cianciolo (6-5, 220, 4.77) is a prototype pocket quarterback with a strong arm and good judgment. Those skills helped him pass for 2,007 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior. He’s been working on improving his accuracy and overall technique this summer.
“Every one of these places I’ve gone, they’ve really helped me learn some new things about my technique,” he said. “I feel like I’m much improved from this time last summer.”
