South Carolina pledge planning postseason visits

Tavyn Jackson’s commitment to South Carolina is in tact and it doesn’t seem like there’s any solid reason to believe that’s changing. The Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards defensive back has been committed to the Gamecocks since Signing Day and he’s content with his choice.

But recruiting in 2016 usually includes a final look around, and Jackson intends to have one before he signs a letter of intent in February.

“I’m probably going to take a couple visits after the playoffs,” Jackson said after his team’s first-round victory on Sunday. “Probably Oregon State, South Carolina and Appalachian State. You know, not too man. Maybe Maryland.”

According to Jackson, Oregon State and Maryland have made the most aggressive pitches to him in recent months. And while he is content as a South Carolina commit, he’s interested in what each school has to say.

“Oregon State has been on me but Maryland is on me really hard now,” Jackson said. “I talk to Georgia the time, too. I think Florida might be coming around the corner soon.”

Most of Jackson’s recent conversation with the South Carolina staff concern where he fits in with the team’s defense. What his role will be is still up for discussion and depends on his size when he shows up on campus.

“They want to use me at corner I think,” Jackson said. “If I get a little thicker, they might use me at nickel. I weigh 176 pounds right now but I’m getting bigger.”

IN HIS WORDS: Florida and Maryland are two I really ant to take a look at. I already have Maryland, but that Florida offer would be nice

RIVALS REACTION: There’s no reason to think Jackson will change his commitment at the time being. Maryland seems to be the biggest threat for now, but there’s no reason for Gamecocks fans to worry as things stand. Should a Florida offer arrive, however, things could become tense.
