Hanahan, S.C., linebacker Marcus Howard was listed as having both Clemson and Georgia as high choices. But that was before he took in the battle this past weekend between Clemson and South Carolina.
Now the Clemson Tigers have moved into the front-runner’s spot, ahead of UGA.
“Clemson has moved to the forefront,” he said. “I am going to take an unofficial trip to Athens this weekend, but Clemson definitely impressed me this weekend. That’s my favorite college right now. It was a really intense game and there was a lot of great college atmosphere.”
And now Clemson is sitting No. 1 on his list, heading into his official visit schedule that starts in two weeks with a trip to N.C. State. He is then set to visit Clemson on January 10, UGA on January 17 and then is thinking about visits to South Carolina and Tennessee.
So did the Clemson win change any impressions that he had about USC?
“I thought Clemson was the better team,” he said. “And they showed it on the field. I think what has me sold the most so far is the great atmosphere after the game. We went to a few parties after with my brother.”
Howard, who is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, is the younger brother of current Clemson defensive end J.J. Howard.
