South Bay QB begins emerge

When you hear that a quarterback is being compared to Oregon Duck great, Dennis Dixon, you have the tendency to wake up from day dreaming slumber and perk up a bit. There is a player picking up recruiting steam because the word is he has a lot of the same skill set that Dixon had.
The signal caller who is getting such high praise is Te-Shon Burton (6-3, 195, 4.7) from Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger.

"Te-Shon has been compared by some college coaches to Dennis Dixon," Leuzinger recruiting coordinator Ralph Oliver said. "Like Dixon when runs, he's more of a glider than a speed burner, but he is able to make big plays with his feet as well as his arm."
"UCLA assistant coach Todd Howard invited Te-Shon to throw at their camp in June," Oliver said. "San Diego State said if he competes well at their camp that he should receive an offer."
"UNLV, New Mexico State and Arizona State are all very intrigued with Te-Shon," Oliver said. "They all want to see him throw in person. Every school that has come by this spring is impressed with his size, athleticism and his uniquely large hands."
"Te-Shon is very serious about football," Oliver said. "He didn't play basketball his junior season so he could give his entire focus to football."
"When Te-Shon lines up this he will be a three-year starter for us," Oliver said. "We expect Te-Shon to be the best quarterback in the South Bay this fall."
Burton first impressed Rivals.com with an outstanding performance in a playoff game in 2007 when was only a sophomore. Even though he was young, he still had the intangibles you like to see in a quarterback. He made good decisions and showed outstanding leadership abilities.
As a junior, Burton earned all-league status when he threw for 1,546 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also picked up 134 yards on the ground and added three rushing touchdowns.
