South Alabama picks up a verbal

On Sunday South Alabama's first ever recruiting class just got a little bit bigger. Limebric Windham a wide receiver out of Irvington (Ala.) Alma Bryant pulled the trigger for the fledgling program over offers from other programs such as Arkansas State and Marshall.
"I committed today," Windham said. "I was going to do it last Thursday but I couldn't really get in contact with my recruiting coordinator."

Though, Windham would love to get an offer from a bigger Division-I program, he felt like the time was right to make his commitment to south Alabama.
"Really, my season's about to come to an end and most people who usually get D-I offers have them by now and I felt like I wanted to secure my spot," he said. "I still have an All-American game (Max Emfinger's All-American Game) later on so I might get some hits after that but if I didn't I know they're pretty much closing out their recruiting period for 2009 so I wanted to make sure I had a spot."
Windham's cousin, Jeremy Jones of McGill-Toolen is also committed to the program and it is close to home for the south Alabama native. One other factor played a major role in his decision.
"They run the spread," he said. "I'm really looking forward to a school that runs the spread and I have no D-I offers with schools that run the spread."
Despite his excitement about his commitment, Windham would consider other options if a major program were to offer. That possibility is something that South Alabama is prepared for.
"They told me that that was fine that if a big D-I school came that I would decommit because any kid would do that. You have to go with what you know but if you have a better opportunity you have to take it."
Windham will have a big opportunity at South Alabama as well, it being the first ever recruiting class at the program.
"The whole thing with it being the first recruiting class, I think it's going to be big," he said. "Therefore in the future, you'll be the first class to come through South Alabama and you'll be in the history books."
At 6-2, 197 pounds, Windham is a possession receiver that will provide a big target for South Alabama's spread offense.
"I probably have to say that I'm one of those role type players that can make big plays when it's needed," he said.
