South Alabama commit taking a trip

Pensacola (Fla.) linebacker Cordivido Grice held offers from South Florida and South Alabama over the summer. After taking trips to each of the schools, he made a commitment to nearby South Alabama.
"I committed to them back in July, late July I think," Grice said. "I liked it there and the love that they showed me there was great. It just felt like I had a great bond with the coaches and the players. When I went down to South Florida, some of that was there, but I don't know I just felt like I had a different connection with South Alabama and I wanted to be a part of the team. That is why I committed there."

Since that time, he said his recruitment has been on the backburner for him.
"I don't really worry about that," Grice said. "I know coaches are still looking at me but I don't really worry about my recruiting process because I just play my position and do my job on the field. I let my coach handle that and he lets me know when I get an offer or if I have a trip to take."
He took a trip earlier this season to Gainesville to watch the Gators host the Skip Holtz' South Florida Bulls. After the trip, the Gator coaching staff followed up on the 6-foot, 205-pound linebacker.
"Florida, I went to their game against South Florida, and they called me the day after and wanted my best highlight film," Grice said.
He will be visiting another SEC school this coming weekend.
"I am taking a trip this week to Auburn," Grice said. "They haven't offered me yet."
As for his commitment to the Jaguars, he said that at this point it would take a lot for him to change his mind.
"Right now I feel like I am firmly committed to South Alabama," Grice said. "If I change my mind, it is going to take someone who has to really catch my eye."
Pensacola, who finished 14-1 a season ago on their way to the Class 3A state football title, is looking for a repeat in 2010. They are off to a good start.
"We are doing pretty good, 5-0 right now," Grice said. "We are trying to do even better than last year. So we are doing really well."
Grice is part of a defense that has allowed just 28 points through five games. This week, Pensacola hosts Panama City (Fla.) Arnold.
