South Alabama adds Prattville defender

As Prattville High School attempts to march towards is fourth consecutive Alabama State Championship, one of its numerous college prospects has decided where he will be attending college next fall. Defensive end Josh Stinson has committed to South Alabama and will be bringing the Prattville winning attitude just a little bit down the road.
"I committed to South Alabama last Thursday," Stinson said. "It was mainly about my family. I don't want to travel a long ways off. South Alabama being right down the road, my mom and family can come watch me any time I want."

Stinson will be taking an official visit to South Alabama in mid-January but his parents were able to take in the campus last weekend.
"It was mainly just talking to everybody and they thought that it would be the right decision to make."
With offers from Tennessee State and Muskeegee, Stinson was also hearing from Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State, Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois and Chattanooga. At 6-3, 205 pounds, Stinson will play a little bit of both defensive end and outside linebacker for the fledgling program.
With his decision behind him, Stinson will be focusing in on the state playoff run, thought his high school team never really strayed away from his main focus.
"I haven't really been focusing on recruiting," he said. "I've been focusing on the state championship and getting my season over with but we just wanted to get this decision out of the way so I didn't have any distractions."
At this point state championships are becoming routine at Prattville and that is not a routine that Stinson plans on breaking.
"It really doesn't bother me much," he said of the pressure of past success. "It's something we're used to doing so I'm not trying to break anything I'm used to doing."
This weekend, Prattville takes on Auburn High School.
