Sophomore kicker a good one

Westerville (Ohio) Central sophomore Ben Buchanan established himself as one of the top specialists in central-Ohio when he was a freshman.
The 5-foot-10 and 175-pound Buchanan made seven of nine field goals that season with the only two misses being blocked. His long came from 44 yards.

Buchanan, who also lettered in baseball as a freshman, came back and made five of seven field goals his sophomore season as he was named all-conference.
Buchanan also handles the punting duties at Central.
Despite being in only his second year of high school, recruiters are well aware of Buchanan.
"I get a lot of mail," Buchanan said. "Penn State, Harvard, Brown, Indiana, Duke, and some others send mail. I got something from Marshall. Ohio University sent some camp stuff.
"I'm definitely interested in the Big Ten. And the MAC schools."
Buchanan mentioned a few schools in particular.
"I'm really interested in Ohio State and Penn State," he said. "And I like Miami of Ohio, Marshall, and Pitt. Any Big Ten or MAC school, I'm interested."
This summer Buchanan will perform in person at a number of the schools he is interested in.
"I'm attending Ohio State and Penn State's camps," Buchanan said. "I'm going to try and get to Northwestern. And I'll try and hit Notre Dame and Miami of Ohio."
