SAN ANTONIO - Jamari Williams already has about a dozen offers but the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons offensive lineman is hoping for another one after a recent coaching change.

At the Army National Combine, Williams said he’s hoping for a Nebraska offer since he thinks so highly of new coach Scott Frost, who came to the Huskers from UCF.

“I love coach Frost,” Williams said.

“He’s a winner. You can just tell he’s a winner. When I went up to UCF, you can tell he loves his players.”

The Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons standout in the 2019 class showed up to the combine registration wearing a Kentucky backpack and the Wildcats are definitely one of the early favorites.

“Coach (Eddie) Gran really believes in me,” Williams said. “Before I blew up and all that stuff, he came up to the school a lot. I went up there and I love the coaches. Great program, great facility and I know a lot of people up there.”

NC State is another top contender.

“Coach (Dwayne) Ledford really loves his players,” Williams said. “Their slogan is Band of Brothers. The coaching staff is really good and they’re an up-and-coming program as well.”

While it’s still early, Williams said Kentucky, NC State, Indiana, Boston College, Syracuse and UCF are some top teams. If Nebraska offers, the Huskers would move into that top group as well.
