SoCal sleeper ready to make name

Every recruiting season there is players who enter into the season as sleepers, but end up being legitimate D-I prospects. There are many reasons for this. A player could have been hurt his junior season so there isn't a lot of film. A player could have transferred to another school and was lost in the shuffle. One of the more common ones is the player goes to school that doesn't churn out a bunch of D-I players so coaches don't take the school that seriously and therefore a prospect can miss out.
That is probably the case for why linebacker Jens Jeters (6-1, 225, 4.56) from Simi Valley, Calif., is this moment a sleeper. The ability is obviously there as he is a two-time linebacker MVP from the prestigious Schuman National Underclassmen Camp.

Jeters also went to team camps at UCLA, Colorado, and Arizona State.
Jeters is very versatile as he rotates from inside to outside backer. He also plays running back on offense and is getting looks for is skills as an offensive player as well.
"Colorado has a high interest in me as an outside linebacker and said that they are going to call me September 1st," Jeters said. "UCLA as well likes me as a linebacker. Utah is thinking of me playing running back and Arizona State is also thinking of me as a linebacker.
"It looks like most want me to play outside linebacker because of my speed and not be stuck in the middle, which is tackle to tackle," Jeters said. "Right now it is outside backer where I can play sideline to sideline."
What is Jeters looking for in a college?
"The things I am looking for are then kind of environment and the type of classes I'm going to be to take," Jeters said. "If football doesn't work out I want to fall back on a good degree and open up some doors.
"Basically though I just want to play football on a team with good coaches and a good tradition," Jeters said. "If it feels like I'm at home, I'm going to go there, but most of all it is academics that has a good criminal justice program or a good medical field. That's where I would like to go."
A hard worker, Jeters has bench pressed 185-pounds, 26 times and that is outstanding strength. His max is 365. He has a solid power clean of 275.
Besides football, Jeters also competes in track and field. His events are the 100, 4x100 and discus.
For his football skills, Jeters earned all-league honors for the tough Marmonte League in Ventura County as a linebacker. He accounted for 102 tackles, four deflected passes, four forced fumbles, two sacks and one blocked field goal as a junior.
Don't be surprised if you a lot more about Jeters when his fall season rolls around.
