SoCal safety returns from first visit

Hard hitting safety Aubrey Smith (6-2, 180, 4.6) from West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade took his first official visit to San Diego State this past weekend.
"It went pretty good," Smith said. "It was nice to hang out with the players. That was pretty fun."

"I was also given the opportunity to talk to head coach Chuck Long, my position coach Thom Kaumeyer and the defensive coordinator Bob Elliott," Smith said. "They told me how much they love my style of play and how I would fit in at San Diego State."
"I'm planning on setting visits to Fresno State and Utah," Smith said. "That won't happen though until my season is over."
Since September 1st, Smith has received phone calls from San Diego State, Utah, Fresno State, UNLV, Wyoming and Washington State.
Smith has offers on the table from San Diego State and Utah.
The talented safety prospect is also having a standout season as a wide receiver. So far Smith has helped his team to a perfect 3-0 record. He has 17 receptions for almost 500 yards and seven touchdowns.
As impressive as his offensive numbers are he is being recruited as a safety, but who knows maybe if he continues to shine on the offensive side of the ball maybe some teams may start to look at him as a pass catcher.
On the defensive side of the ball, the opposition hasn't thrown too much in his area this season and for good reason.
Smith had seven interceptions as a junior.
Smith and his Chaminade teammates will be putting their perfect record on the line this Friday evening when they take on the always tough 2-1 Canyon Country (Calif.) Canyon.
