SoCal RB bursts on the scene

Running back/cornerback Darrick Jackson (5-10, 175, 4.5) from Escondido, Calif., is having a monster season. The surprising Jackson currently leads the Golden State in rushing with 1,571 yards and has scored 16 touchdowns.
Jackson worked tirelessly in the off-season and his work has up his stock considerably.

According Escondido coach Paul Gomes, Jackson has offers from Oregon and San Diego State. Oregon State could be on the verge of offering Jackson.
“Darrick is an extremely hard worker,” Gomes said. “He’s just as fired up in practice as he is games.”
“Darrick is a great leader,” Gomes said. “He never gives up.”
“Darrick will do whatever it takes to help his team out,” Gomes said. “He runs with the scout team. He’s an intense kid in all the right ways.”
“It sounds kind of strange but Darrick is still learning how to be a running back,” Gomes said. “He has only played the position for two seasons.”
Believe it or not most of the colleges are recruiting Jackson as a corner. If he continues to run the football the way he is there may be a changing of the minds.
Jackson is also a fine special teams player who can help a team returning punts and kicks.
Jackson will probably visit Oregon and San Diego State. There is a buzz in San Diego about how the Aztecs are improving and the positive direction the program is going.
As a matter of fact, Jackson has gone to a lot of the Aztec games.
Look for Jackson’s stock to rise as word gets out on his successful senior season.
Jackson and his Escondido teammates currently stand at 4-2.
