SoCal QB sets up visit

Quarterback Jake Bernards (6-5, 200, 4.9) from Valencia (Calif.) West Ranch impressed onlookers at both the UCLA three day camp and the Beyond 2000 Elite Camp last June (B2G). Henry Bell the facilitator for B2G predicted big things out of Bernards, but quarterbacks can't do it all, still Bell was right as Bernards had a solid senior season.
"My senior season was a little disappointing, although I thought I did pretty well," Bernards said. "As a whole we fell a little short."

"My senior year was a lot of fun and I think I really grew as a player," Bernards said. "In the end I learned a lot of lessons like how to face defeat and how to rally people around me."
Bernards was pretty much the offense for a 2-8 West Ranch team. He threw for 1,695 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also did a solid job running the football as he ended up with 322 rushing yards and added two more touchdowns on the ground.
On the recruiting trail, Bernards has one visit set and he's talking to other schools.
"Right now I've been talking to UC Davis, Washington and a couple of Division II schools," Bernards said. "I'm taking an official visit to UC Davis in the middle of January. That is the only official visit I have set up, but I'd like to take a visit to Washington, as well as any other Pac-10 school."
"In college I want to earn a starting job and hopefully just play as long as I'm able to," Bernards said. "I would like to stay in California, but I have no problem going across the country."
