SoCal QB has favorite

Dual-threat quarterback Cleven Doty (6-2, 170, 4.5) from Long Beach (Calif.) Cabrillo was selected first-team all-league quarterback in the very tough Moore League as a junior. He was also selected his team’s MVP.
Doty threw for 1,420 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions as a junior. His interceptions may be high but there is a reason for it.

“Three of his picks were due to a bad read or throw,” Cabrillo head coach Darrin Parson said. “The other eight were due to tips off our receivers hands. Those balls should have been caught.”
“Cleven is improving everyday,” Parson said. “I think he’s getting a lot better with his decision making and reading defenses.”
“Cleven will be a three-year starter for us,” Parson said. “He entered the game for the second series of the first game of his sophomore and he's never left the field since.”
“Cleven can stand in the pocket and deliver a strike or can use feet when things break down and still move the chains,” Parson said. “Another thing that Cleven can do his run the option and brings another wrinkle to the table.”
Doty has heard from every school in the Pac10, but the really likes Arizona and would love to hear more from the Wildcats. He goes to Arizona every summer and knows all about the desert heat.
An outstanding athlete, Doty also plays hoops on the high school level, but it is football that will earn him is scholarship.
Besides Arizona – Fresno State, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State and Arizona State are also in the hunt.
