SoCal OL sets visit and has offers

North Torrance, Calif., offensive lineman/defensive lineman Robert Gustavis (6-4, 280, 5.2) and his young teammates are off to a rough start so far for the season of 2002 coming out of the box with a 1-4 record. North Torrance’s slow start hasn’t hurt Gustavis on the recruiting front.
The talented lineman has offers from Arizona, Oregon, and UNLV. Besides the three teams that have already offered, Gustavis is currently getting phone calls from Penn State, Oregon, Washington State, San Jose State, Nevada, Montana and Portland State.

Gustavis told Rivals100 that he will visit Arizona either on December 13th or December 20th. Arizona is the team with a set visit.
UNLV and Oregon State are very much the hunt for two of the remaining four visits. “I would also like to visit Stanford and UCLA, but I haven’t been offered a visit by either school, yet,” Gustavis said.
What is Gustavis looking for in a school?
“A school with a great football program and outstanding academics,” Gustavis said.
Gustavis is an excellent technician and possesses very quick feet. On the offensive side of the ball, he has graded out on 88% of his blocks. On defense, Gustavis has 16 tackles for the season.
In an earlier report with Rivals100 North Torrance head coach Todd Croce had this to say about his talented lineman, “We had record setting numbers Robert’s junior season,” Croce said. “We set records for points and offensive yards. Robert was our go to guy that we ran behind.”
He’s a tremendous pass blocker as well. Gustavis as a weak side tackle also protects the quarterback’s back. “Robert’s feet and long arms are his best assets,” Croce said. “He can handle the quick guys because of his feet and the big guys because of his size.”
Gustavis was an all-state and all-CIF selection as a junior.
