SoCal linebacker spotted at SC scrimmage

Junior to Watch: Brett Martin

Position: Linebacker
Size and Speed: Brett stands 6-foot-1, weighs in at 220 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds. Martin benches 300 pounds, squats 425 pounds, cleans 280 pounds and has recorded a 33-inch vertical jump.
Statistics: Brett was is on 122 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, six passes broken up, three sacks, two fumble caused and one fumble recovery as a junior.
Honors: Brett was an all-league choice as a safety his sophomore season and he followed up that honor with a first-team all-league selection as a linebacker his junior year.
Favorite Schools: Martin is hearing from teams coast-to-coast. USC, UCLA, ASU, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Michigan, Wisconsin, Boston College and Hawai’i are schools showing interest. Brett lists USC, UCLA, ASU, Washington, Oregon, Nebraska and Hawai’i as his early favorites. Martin also let us know that he followed USC and that he was at SC’s scrimmage last Saturday. Just a sidebar; Brett’s grandpa played for the Washington Huskies.
The Skinny: Brett is a versatile player could end up playing linebacker or safety on the college level. The scouting report on Martin is that he plays with fire and intensity. He is also known as a hitter who will knock your block off. Brett is also very quick to the ball, aggressive and has excellent anticipation.
Martin loves a challenge and is looking forward to the season this fall. “I am already looking forward the season,” Martin said. “We have a great out of conference schedule and it will be a challenge,” Martin said.
Brett is right about his out of conference schedule. Brett and Centennial will plays San Clemente, Calif., Rialto (Calif.), Eisenhower, Clovis (Calif.) West, Redlands, Calif., and Los Angeles (Calif.) Manual Arts. That is a heck of a schedule.
Martin will show up at the Nike camp at USC this weekend. He may also attend the USC and ASU football camps this summer...
