SoCal LB Looking to Leave West
Claremont (Calif.) is one school that always produces at least two or three solid Div I prospects every year and next year's top recruit will be linebacker Nathan Thomas. Thomas is hearing from schools all over the West but has his eyes on some national powerhouses at the moment.
Thomas, 6-1, 220 pounds had a big junior season finishing the year with 101 tackles and two forced fumbles to earn League Defensive Player of the Year and 1st team All-CIF honors.

"He's a tremendous talent," Claremont head coach Mike Collins said. "He's a high Div I player and will have schools from all over after him. He's big, fast and tough and is a very physical player. I think as soon as his tape gets out there, he'll get a few early offers."
Thomas is currently hearing from the Pac 10 plus Michigan, Kansas State and Notre Dame and definitely looks to be leaving the region judging by the schools he's interested.
"My top five would be Oklahoma, Florida State, Tennessee, Michigan and Kansas State," Thomas said. "I just like those schools and think that's big time football there. I don't have a problem leaving the area and I'm also looking for a school that is strong academically and has good alumni support."
Thomas is carrying a 2.8 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year.
