SoCal DT making name

One of the hardest positions to fill is at defensive tackle that is why it is a good bet that D-I schools will be making a bee line to the Los Angeles (Calif.) Washington campus this spring to check out defensive tackle/offensive lineman Lavon McCoy (6-3, 338, 5.0).
McCoy is very athletic for a big man. He also plays basketball and that helps his feet. He is very powerful and has no match on the high school level.
In the weight room, McCoy benches 430, squats 600, power cleans 225 and has recorded a 27-inch vertical.
McCoy earned all-city honors as junior for his performance on the defensive side of the ball.
On the recruiting trail, McCoy is getting letters from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Arizona, LSU and Duke.
What is McCoy looking for in a college?
"The most important thing for me is to graduate from college like my uncle," McCoy said. "So I want to go to a college that will help me achieve my diploma.
"Athletically, I want to be coached by a man who can help me find skills I don't already have," McCoy said. "I want to become the best player that I can be.
"I plan to camp with Arizona, USC and UCLA," McCoy said. "I'm also going to attend the SCA camp (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) this summer.
"I'm also going to attend the NIKE Camp at USC in April," McCoy said. "I want to go to these camps to help me become better for my senior season."
