SoCal DL passes look test

There was another good sized prospect at the NIKE Camp in Los Angeles on April 17th who certainly passes the look test. This athlete also displayed excellent quickness and footwork. Better yet this young man has been growing like a weed since the end of his junior season.
The player in question is defensive tackle/linebacker Rocky Mulitauopele (6-3, 265, 5.1) from Paramount, Calif.

Mulitauopele is a two-time all-league selection but at two different positions. As a sophomore, Mulitauopele made all-league as a defensive tackle. For his junior season he was honored for his performance as a linebacker.
Mulitauopele racked up over 80 tackles and eight sacks from his linebacker spot in 2004.
"Rocky is still growing," Paramount coach Art Tavizon said. "He has put on 30 pounds of muscle since the end of his junior season."
"Rocky has tremendous upsides," Tavizon said. "He played linebacker for us last year and before that he defensive tackle."
"As a linebacker Rocky is very instinctive," Tavizon said. "And as a defensive tackle he's a great run stopper."
"Rocky is one of those players who can play a lot of positions," Tavizon said. "Not only does he play defense for us but he also plays some tight end for us because he moves so well."
"Rocky could end up as a defensive end or defensive tackle and could even play on the offensive line if he continues to grow," Tavizon said. "Wherever he ends up playing Rocky is going to be good one."
"Rocky is a hard worker in the weight room," Tavizon said. "He's a quiet leader who leads by his example and he's a great kid."
Mulitauopele currently benches 320, squats 450 and benched 185-pounds 27 times at the NIKE Camp.
USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State are all showing Mulitauopele a lot of recruiting interest.
