SoCal DE supplies the heat

It is often said that the best pass defense is a great pass rush.
Last season Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., had a tremendous defensive lineman in four-star defensive end and USC-bound Averell Spicer (6-2, 260, 4.6).

This season, the school has another defensive end that is drawing interest from D-IA schools in Devin Johnson (6-3, 210, 4.55).
Johnson is getting early recruiting attention from USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona and ASU.
"Every school that recruited Averill (Spicer) last season asked about Devin," Rancho Cucamonga coach Chris Van Duin said. "He gave Averill a run for his money as far as recruiting attention goes.
"Devin can move, he can jump and he can run. He is extremely athletic, Devin even blocked six kicks, three were punts and three were field goals."
Johnson was selected first-team all-league, first-team all-county and first-team
All-CIF as a junior. He racked up 77 tackles, a team-leading eight sacks and two fumble recoveries.
"What makes Devin such a good pass rusher is he has a great burst off the line of scrimmage," Van Duin said. "His motor is running all the time."
