SoCal DB working hard in the classroom

Covina (Calif.) South Hills is known for producing two or three Div I players just about every season. This year will be no exception and one player whose stock is on the rise is defensive back Fred Glaster.
Glaster, 5-11, 185 pounds plays both running back and defensive back but is getting recruited strictly as a defensive player right now. He has the ability to play safety or cornerback and has bounced between both positions this season.

"He's a natural safety but has great cover skills," Husky assistant coach James Escarcega said. "We use him at safety mostly but when we go up against a team with a good receiver, we've put Fred on him and he'll completely shut him down, he has that kind of ability."
Glaster is third on the team with 84 tackles to go along with two interceptions and a safety. He impressed us at the SoCal Nike camp where he clocked a 4.66 in the 40, 4.37 in the shuttle and jumped 29 inches in the vertical. He's a strong tackler and plays with a mean streak all Husky players seem to have.
On the recruiting front, Glaster just needs to take care of his academics but he's well on his way to doing that.
"He had a great 1st quarter and he finishes up that same way the rest of the semester, he'll be just fine," Escarcega said. "Oregon wants him bad, they love him. San Diego State, Washington and Colorado State all like him as well and said as soon as his grades check out, they're going to offer him. It's tough to find a guy with his size who can run, hit and tackle and who has the ability to play safety or corner in college. Fred can do that and that's what a lot of these schools really like about him."
