Vereen was outstanding for Valencia his junior season earning second-team all-state, first-team all-league and first-team all-CIF as a cornerback after accounting for 65 tackles, six interceptions, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.
As a receiver, Vereen had nine catches for 224 yards and three touchdowns, while averaging 24.9 yards per reception.
Vereen is also an outstanding kick returner. He ended up with 472 kick return yards with an average of 26.2 return. He even returned one kickoff 99 yards for a score.
The talented athlete from Valencia has two offers o the table. His first came from Stanford in February and his second came from Minnesota in June.
"I really wasn't expecting an offer from Stanford," Vereen said. "I only talked to their coaches once, but when they offered me it certainly made my day.
"Minnesota's offer also made me feel great," Vereen said. "It was very exciting once again to get another offer and once again I wasn't expecting an offer, but I was very grateful and excited when Minnesota offered.
"I've been thinking about committing, but I'm not ready to," Vereen said. "I don't favor one school over another enough to make a decision."
Other schools that have shown interest in Vereen have been Arizona, Cal, Oregon, UCLA and Washington.
"I have talked to all of them (interested schools)," Vereen said. "I enjoy talking to each and every one of them and hope they offer soon.
"Coach John Neal said they are going to watch me my senior season."
What is Vereen looking for in a college?
"A good coaching staff, a good education and a nice location," Vereen said. "By location, I mean a place I could see myself living if there wasn't any football."
Vereen has excellent bloodlines. His brother is Cal Bear running back Shane Vereen. He is also outstanding in the classroom where he carries a 3.66 GPA and scored a 1610 SAT.
