SoCal DB is ACC bound

Spring Valley (Calif.) Steele Canyon defensive back Wesley Davis took his first official visit this past weekend to Boston College. The athlete loved the visit, so much in fact that the talented safety decided to end the process early.
"I just committed to BC about an hour ago," Davis said. "I really loved the visit and everything about the school was great. I fit in there really well and the thing that really stood out to me is just how passionate the fans are about football there.

"I mean, they take their football a lot more serious than they do out here and I loved that. There were fans at the game waiting to get in five hours before kickoff and I was just really impressed with the team and the coaches as well. I know they didn't come away with a win but I think anyone who watched the game realizes that BC really handled them.
"They had more yards and seemed to be controlling the action most of the game. They just weren't able to put the Florida State away and if you let a great team like FSU hang around, they'll get you in the end. I was still impressed with how the team played and I think BC is really an emerging power right now and I'm getting in at the perfect time."
Davis was a 1st team all-state underclass selection a year ago and one of the best athletes in San Diego. He plays both receiver and safety but will play strong safety in college.
"The defense really fits me well," Davis added. "I'm a hitter and they like their strong safeties to play up close rather than chase around a 4.4 (40) receiver all over the field. That's not really my strength so I think I'll be able to come in and make an impact there.
"While I was on my trip, I knew it was the place for me but I wanted to come home and talk things over with my family first. Once I knew BC is where I wanted to go, I called up the coaches about an hour ago and said 'I'm coming.' They were pretty excited and I'm excited to have the decision out of the way as well."
Davis said his commitment is solid and he doesn't plan to take any other trips. San Diego State, Colorado State and UTEP had all offered scholarships and Cal, Stanford, UCLA and Oregon were all showing heavy recruiting interest.
