SoCal athlete up to four offers

Defensive lineman/tight end Marcus Howard (6-2, 258, 4.8) from Inglewood, Calif., is a very intriguing prospect because of the versatility he brings to the table. He is being recruited as an athlete and the money position of defensive tackle. He has four scholie opportunities.
Howard has offers from UNLV, New Mexico State, Idaho, and San Jose State.

Schools that are showing interest and want to see some senior footage are Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, UCLA and Washington.
Regarding his offers, Howard has already looked into San Jose State and UNLV.
"San Jose State is looking at me as an athlete and Arizona likes me as an H-back," Howard said. "I'm just excited about this upcoming season from my senior year.
"I did a lot of research on UNLV and they seem like a pretty good school," Howard said. "I like UNLV's whole system, the coaching staff and the environment.
"I also have looked into San Jose State and they also seem like a good school," Howard said. "I like San Jose State's coaching staff and how they prepare their players for the season.
Oregon and Washington have received some attention Howard out of the schools that are giving him a look.
"I've done a lot of research on Oregon and Washington," Howard said. "My coach here at Inglewood (Charles Mincy) went to Washington. That's what really got me on them and some of our players have gone there. With Oregon I just like their offense and the school."
What is Howard looking for in a college?
"I'm looking for a good environment, great academics and good coaching."
The scouting report on Howard is as an offensive player he is an outstanding blocker and has really soft hands. He is a fearless receiver over the middle and is not afraid to make the tough catch in traffic.
On the defensive side of the ball, he has incredible balance and quickness. He is very hard for an offensive lineman to handle.
Regardless of what side of the ball Howard plays on, he's a big guy who can move.

Howard is getting the job done on and off the field, he currently benches 345 and squats 550. He is also doing a fine job in the classroom.
"That is the main thing here at Inglewood is school before football," Howard said. "That's what the coaches teach us."
Howard currently carries a solid 3.1 GPA and will take his SAT test this fall.
