SoCal athlete racks up offer

Encino (Calif.) Crespi high school won its second straight section CIF Championship in 2005 and one of the main reasons was athlete prospect D.J. Holt (6-1, 241, 4.7). He played wide receiver, running back and a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker for Crespi during his high school career. Holt has already received his first offer and there will certainly others as the recruiting season progresses.
Holt has an offer from Nevada, a school that was very aggressive and successful on the recruiting trail a year ago. He is also getting recruiting attention from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Tennessee.

Depending on the system, Holt could end as a H-back type or even running back. On defense he could end up with his hand down or as a linebacker.
"D.J. is a phenomenal football player," Crespi coach Jeremiah Ross said. "I don't think we would have won the championship without him."
"That's not to disregard what our seniors did for us," Ross said. "He was that important to our success."
"Whatever you are looking for in a football player, you will find it in D.J.," Ross said. "He's the real deal."
"D.J. is our best route runner and when we get him in space it is pretty much over," Ross said. "There wasn't a time that I can recall that the first man on the scene was able to make the tackle."
Holt was an one man wrecking crew on both sides of the ball for the Celts. As a receiver he led Crespi in receptions with 48, while accounting for 840 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.
Holt also did a good job rushing the football. He racked up 236 rushing yards on 28 carries while averaging 8.4 yards per carry and scored five rushing touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the football, Holt was just as dominating racking up 72 tackles, 12 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Holt's performance saw him earn CIF Section X Defensive Player of the Year and League Player of the Year at any position.
Holt attended UCLA's junior day and he enjoyed it there big time. He has also been invited to USC's junior coming up on April 2nd.
