Newly minted New Mexico State head coach, DeWayne Walker has been on the job just over a week and he has already reeled in his first commitment for the Aggies. Walker and company landed a solid football player in athlete prospect David Quiroga (6-1, 205, 4.55) from Chino Hills (Calif.) Ayala.
The talented Quiroga was selected his League Player of the Year and was also earned all-CIF honors as a senior.

Quiroga was a jack-of-all-trades on the offensive side of the ball. He had 36 receptions for 470 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver. He was also pretty good running the football. Quiroga ended up rushing for 667 yards and scored nine touchdowns on the ground. He was also outstanding on special teams racking up 287 kickoff return yards for an average of 26.1 per return.
On the defensive side of the ball, Quiroga accounted for 77 tackles and three interceptions.
"Coach Walker and his staff were watching my film and within five minutes into he said we have to get him on phone," Quiroga said. "He (Walker) asked me if I had any visits set"
"We started talking about visits and I told him I didn't want to waste his time by visiting if there wasn't an offer," Quiroga said. "I talked to my Dad and then we called Coach back they offered and I accepted."
"I'm really excited to get a chance to play for Coach Walker," Quiroga said. "He brings a great resume."
"It is a new start for New Mexico State and I know this coaching staff is going to be around for at three to four years," Quiroga said. "I met Coach Walker before when he was at UCLA and I love the passion he brings to the game."
"I know we are going to have to work hard and grind to turn this thing around, but I believe we are going to do it."
Besides New Mexico State; Colorado State, New Mexico and San Diego State were all showing recruiting interest in Quiroga.
