SoCal athlete making name

Running back/defensive back Nicholas Grigsby (6-0, 187, 4.47) from Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) Saint Paul had an outstanding showing at the adidas held in Westwood. He was getting serious attention before that and now seems poised for a very good spring on the recruiting trail.
"USC wrote me saying they want to use me the same way they used Reggie Bush," Grigsby said. "They like the way I run and catch the football out of the backfield."

The scouting report on Grigsby is he's a versatile athlete who can end up playing on either side of the ball on the next level.
As a junior, Grigsby earned first-team all-area and first-team all-league as a junior. He led his area in all-purpose yardage after rushing for 1,813 yards and tallied up 411 receiving yards. He ended up scoring 22 rushing touchdowns and also four receiving scores.
While only playing in two games on the defensive side of the ball, Grigsby accounted for eight tackles and one pick.
According to Grigsby USC, Washington, Oregon State Miami, Boise State, and Utah have been by the school so far this spring. He is receiving recruiting interest from Colorado State, Notre Dame, Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA.
"USC and Miami are waiting to see my SAT score," Grigsby said. "I think I have a high chance of getting offers from both schools."
"I want to go to a school with a winning tradition," Grigsby said. "I want to go to a school where I will get good coaching and place that has good academics so I can get a good education."
Grigsby is working hard in the off-season. He benches 255, cleans 225, squats 450 and has recorded a 33-inch vertical.
