SoCal athlete gets first offer

Athlete prospect Marlon Johnson (6-0, 185, 4.5) from Inglewood, Calif., has seen heat up this fall and for good reason. Johnson is one of the most versatile athletes. Johnson has lined up at every skill position this season, plus for good measure, he runs back punts and kicks.
Things are picking up on the recruiting trail for Johnson as well as he picked up his first offer.

"I received my first offer from UNLV last night (Wednesday October 24th)," Johnson said. "It was very exciting and I have worked hard for it.
"Getting an offer is a very big accomplishment," Johnson said. "I set up a visit for to UNLV the second week of December.
"I've been getting calls from Nevada, San Jose State, New Mexico, Washington and Arizona State," Johnson said. "San Jose State assistant coach (Charles) Nash and a coach from New Mexico will be coming to see me on Friday. They will both being coming to my game.
Inglewood assistant coach Khalid Ali handles the recruitment for Inglewood high school and he has done a stellar job helping Inglewood athletes get noticed by D-I schools.
Ali explains why Johnson is starting to get the attention that he deserves.
"A few weeks ago, we sent his senior tape to his top 30 schools," Ali said. "Some 17 year olds find it difficult handle that attention but somehow Marlon has been able to maintain his focus in the classroom and on the field.
"Marlon has made a lot of sacrifices this season by filling in wherever we needed him. So far, he has played every position in the offensive and defensive backfields.
"Marlon's focus on the team goal is what allows him to have success at playing a number of positions," Ali said. "Tonight, he will play quarterback and cornerback against Beverly Hills high school."
