SoCal ATH is MWC bound

BYU is on a nice roll in recruiting right now and just picked up commitment No. 12 earlier today. Unlike most players who will just pick up the phone to inform the school of their decision, Canyon Country (Calif.) Canyon running back J.J. DiLuigi made the road trip all the way to Provo to let the Cougar coaches know of his commitment.
"It was everything, it's just the perfect place for me," DiLuigi said. "The tradition, the honor, the people, it had a big impact on me. Guys like Curtis Brown and Brandon Howard made me feel like I was part of the team already. The facilities are unbelievable as well, I've heard they're ranked No. 1 in the nation.

"Coach (Lance) Reynolds (position coach) had a big impact on my decision as well. He's like a father-figure to me and everywhere I went people, would talk about him, how great of a guy he is. This is a huge weight off my shoulders and I'm very relieved to have the decision out of the way."
DiLuigi, 5-9, 175 pounds is a very talented athlete who did a little of everything for Canyon a year ago in leading to the program to the CIF Div II title. He earned all-league, all-CIF and 1st team all-state underclass honors after rushing for 1,875 yards and 37 touchdowns, catching 33 balls for 530 yards and five touchdowns and adding one kickoff return for a score.
"We should be really good again next year too," DiLuigi said. "We got our whole line and most of our defense coming back. All of our receivers are back too, we're set for sure."
We were hoping to see DiLuigi at the NIKE Camp in Oregon this past weekend but unfortunately, the athlete wasn't able to work out.
"I got there, went through registration, got my shirt but I just felt too sick to work out," DiLuigi said. "I was going to try and gut it out and was planning to go through the testing part but my stomach was really bothering me so I had to cut out of there and just go home to rest."
DiLuigi said he was recruited to play in the slot his first year and could move to running back the following season. Wyoming had also offered and Washington State and Colorado State were showing interest as well.
