SoCal 2012 WR lands first two

After a standout performance at the NIKE Camp held in Los Angeles, 2012 wide receiver, Derrick Woods (6-0, 185, 4.5) from Inglewood, Calif., has quickly made a name for himself and has already landed his first two offers.
"Derrick received his first two offers," Inglewood assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Khalid Ali said. "Both within the last month.

"Idaho was the first," Ali said. "Just yesterday, the Washington Huskies offered Derrick."
Washington's offer is very intriguing because they have been displaying the ability for being out front with their evaluations.
Husky defensive backs coach, Demetrice Martin, is fast gaining the reputation as one of the west coast's best recruiters.
"Derrick is really excited with both offers," Ali said. "It is good to see his hard work pay off.
"When Derrick first came to Inglewood, he played varsity for us and he really bonded with Shaquelle Evans who ended up signing with Notre Dame," Ali said. "He (Woods) really bonded with Shaq and really took to his work ethic.
"Derrick benefited from seeing Shaq work up close," Ali said. "The day Shaq was announced to the US Army game, at the celebration, Derrick went up to Shaq and asked him if he could wear his number one jersey next season."
Woods now wears the number one jersey for Inglewood and that is quite an honor because since the current coaching staff has been at Inglewood, jersey that has the number one on it has been reserved for the team's best wide receiver.
Look for Woods to be among the very best wide receiver prospects for the class of 2012. Definitely a player to jot down and keep your eye on.
