Snyder remains in waiting mode

Matt Snyder was completely shocked when he heard that Mike Riley was leaving Oregon State for Nebraska since he had dinner with him the night before the announcement.
The San Ramon (Calif.) California three-star tight end said he remains committed to the Beavers at this point in his recruitment but he hopes a new coaching staff is hired soon so he can get acquainted with them and see if his decision still sticks.

For Snyder, having pasta one night with Riley and then hearing that he was leaving for a new job the next day was something completely unexpected.
"We were surprised as everyone else when Riley left for Nebraska," Snyder said.
"Basically where I'm at right now is I'm still committed to Oregon State. We're probably going to wait to see the new coach and the new coaching staff and what kind of offense they run and talk to them before we do anything else.
"He was over for a home visit. We had some dinner with him, my mom made some pasta and we talked about Oregon State at least for an hour and we had no idea he was leaving for Nebraska so it caught us by surprise even more."
The three-star tight end does not plan to make any snap decisions. Cal, Colorado State, Fresno State, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, Utah State and Yale have also offered but Snyder said the plan is to see who is hired in Corvallis and then move on from there.
The San Ramon California standout just hopes a new coach is hired soon so he has some time to figure out what's best for him.
"We're going to wait to see who they hire before we do anything else," Snyder said. "We're hoping they get it figured out quicker instead of them taking a long time."
Snyder finished with 408 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his senior season.
