Snelson picks Minnesota

Dredrick Snelson's commitment to Minnesota came out of the relative blue on Saturday evening. The four-star wide receiver from Florida has yet to visit the Gophers' campus and has not even been to the state that houses. Still, the Rivals250 prospect is more than comfortable with his choice.

The whole sight-unseen thing bothers Snelson not.
"It was everything about Minnesota that I like," Snelson said. "I've heard nothing but great things about it. I'm getting away from home and seeing a new atmosphere. There are great people in that program. They need a dynamic receiver like myself."
And so the South Florida native will head north to Big Ten country. He intends to travel to the Minnesota campus for an official visit on Oct. 31, when the Gophers host Michigan. He's excited to see the program to which he is committed with his own eyes, sure, but Snelson says he's already pretty certain of how he first into the scheme.
Turns out, Xs and Os were major selling points.
"They told me they want to use me like a jet-sweep, bubble-screen guy," Snelson said. "They like how versatile I am and that they can move me in and out. I think I'll be able to play pretty early and do a lot of those different things."
Snelson alerted the Minnesota coaching of staff of his commitment at about 4:00 pm Saturday, and the news was met with the reaction anyone would expect.
"They went crazy, man," Snelson said. "They just loved it. They were very excited."
The 6-foot Snelson is ranked as the No. 25 wide receiver and the No. 123 overall prospect in the class of 2016. He chose the Gophers over offers from a number of other major programs.
