Snead looking to stay close to home

One of the state's top defensive line prospects next season will be Oakland (Calif.) Skyline's Michael Snead. The talented rush end is sitting on two offers right now and is hearing from a host of schools as well.
Snead, 6-4, 230 pounds and the younger brother of UCLA defensive lineman William Snead, has a nice frame for a defensive end, long and athletic and should have no problem adding size once he gets to college. The athlete is stronger than he looks and does a nice job of getting off blocks and uses his hands very well.

Snead had a strong showing at the NIKE Camp at Stanford and was very impressive during the position and one on one drills. The lineman was very quick getting off the ball and was never blocked while we were watching him.
On the recruiting front, Snead picked up an early offer from San Diego State and Colorado has now offered as well.
"I'm hearing from most of the Pac 10 right now plus schools like Michigan, Fresno State, Colorado, Boston College and Colorado State," Snead said. "My brother being at UCLA does play a role, it would be cool to play with him but it's not going to be the deciding factor or anything. Right now, I really don't have a leader but I do like the West Coast and would like to play close to home if possible.
"At the same time, I'm going to be partial to the schools that have offered me like Colorado. Right now, my plan is to take all my official visits before making a commitment anywhere."
