SMU lands athletic QB prospect

Dallas (Texas) Skyline dual-threat quarterback Chris Frazier picked up his first offer from SMU months ago. As it turned out, that was the only offer he needed. Recently, Frazier ended his recruitment and went ahead and committed to SMU.
"I decided a couple days ago," Frazier said. "I've been trying to call Tim Hundley my coach and recruiting coordinator and I couldn't catch him so I decided to go on to the camp. I got there and I got a great feel for the coaches and for the program so I went ahead and made my decision and I'm going to be a Mustang."

The local product cited the relationship with the SMU coaching staff as the primary factor in his decision to end his recruitment.
"I felt like I was at home when I met with the coaching staff," he said. "I talk to the coaches almost every two or three days. I felt like part of the family even before I committed."
At Skyline, Frazier has played all over the field. While he is an athletic quarterback, he has the ability to play fullback, tight end, wide receiver or even on the defensive side of the ball. While the SMU coaches have that in mind with his recruitment, Frazier will get the opportunity to give quarterback a shot, particularly after impressing the coaches with his throwing ability.
"They're recruiting me as an athlete," he said. "I got to talk to coach Jones yesterday. They thought I had the skills to throw the ball but after seeing me I was a little bit better than they thought I was. They see me more as a QB maybe slash wide receiver. They want to start me as a QB first and then just like high school, they may move me around and put me in the best position to help the team."
As a member of a team with high expectations in 2008, Frazier feels good having the decision behind him.
"It feels real good that I went on and got it over with," he said. "The only thing to worry about now is my season, staying healthy and getting my grades straight. Now I have a home to go to."
Though he has yet to receive any other offers, Frazier doesn't seem very likely to change his tune should more schools come his way.
"I'm pretty dead set on being a Mustang," he said. "It's going to be hard to change my mind. Once I make a decision, it is very hard to change my mind."
