SMU could target Texas QB

In El Paso, Texas, it can some times be easy to overlook prospects since the quality of football isn't quite at the same level as some of the state's other bigger cities. For El Paso (Texas) Burgess quarterback John Skelton that hasn't stopped one of the up-and-coming in-state programs to take a long look at him.
"SMU is really recruiting me probably the hardest," Skelton, who measured in at 6-foot-5 and 201 pounds at the Palo Alto NIKE Camp, said.

"They want me to come out for their special camp on the 23rd of July, and I'm going to head out there.
"I think if I impress them, I could get an offer."
SMU assistant Joe Sawyer is in charge of Skelton's recruitment. Arizona State, Arkansas, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Army, UTEP and Columbia are other programs that are recruiting him.
"I'm improving and working hard, trying to improve my footwork," Skelton said. "I've got a strong arm, but I've got slow feet."
