Smiths hard work pays off

The long wait is over for Hammonton (N.J.) St. Joseph athlete Darryl Smith.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound athlete has largely taken a backseat to teammates Kaiwan Lewis and Max Valles, committed to South Carolina and Virginia respectively, when it comes to the recruiting spotlight.

Monday was Smith's day.
"I received an offer from Bucknell," Smith explained. "I'm happy. It's my first offer. I'm going to hopefully build off of that. I hope the recruiting thing keeps going on and on.
"I believe they're recruiting me as a safety. I was up there for camp on July 30."
What are his thoughts on the school?
"It's a beautiful campus," he noted. "The football players stay together. I was talking to them and they said the freshmen really stick together. They've got a nice field and they have turf. The field is awesome. Plus it's right there in town."
Smith is also hearing from Buffalo and is hoping for FBS offers.
