Smith weighing his options

Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven quarterback Patrick Smith holds a handful of offers. The 6-foot-0, 185-pounder is leaning towards two schools, but plans to get out next month for a few trips.
"I have offers from Memphis, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Harding and Austin Peay," he said. "Things have been going good though, I'm getting a lot more attention and working hard."

Smith is hoping to hit the road in July.
"I'm planning on going to camps," he said. "I missed the first ones in June, so I'm trying to go in July to get to as many as possible."
Smith did find the time to attend one camp to this point at Arkansas State.
"I went to their camp," he said. "It's a good school. I'm from Arkansas, but I'm trying to get in the SEC."
As far as the SEC schools, Smith is hearing from Ole Miss and Mississippi State the most.
"Those two would be at the top of my list," he said. "But, I really want to play quarterback in college and they are recruiting me as an athlete. I'll take that chance to go to the SEC, but I'd like a chance to play quarterback."
The two-star is getting the majority of his interest as a defensive back and wide receiver.
Besides hopefully being able to play quarterback at the next level, Smith also has his eyes open for a few other specific things.
"I'm trying to find a college that is going to give me a chance at quarterback," he said. "I'd be more than happy to be an athlete though. I'm also looking for somewhere that'll treat me like I'm at home. I want someplace not too far from home. I don't want to be all the way across the country."
