Smith’s decision coming

Houston Westside High School's Michael Smith has been patient during the recruiting process. It may have just paid off.
The University of Connecticut has offered the 6-foot receiver and is bringing him up on an official visit this weekend.

"It's a Division I program in a BCS conference," Westside coach Mark Byrd said. "They are a winning program and should be going to bowl games for the next few years. It's a great opportunity for Mike and I think he'll be committed after this weekend."
Smith caught 56 balls for 824 yards and nine touchdowns this season and was a Houston Touchdown Club finalist on offense.
University of Louisiana-Lafayette is also on the line with Smith, who could visit in January if he doesn't commit to UConn.
