Smith planning trips

Neptune Beach (Fla.) Fletcher running back Jamari Smith has racked up a few early offers. His two most recent offers came from Southeastern Conference programs.
"I have a few offers," Smith said. "I was recently offered by Ole Miss and Arkansas. I also have an offer from South Carolina, Southern Miss, and Florida International."

In addition to those offers, the 6-foot, 200-pound back said he believes South Florida is close to offering him.
At this stage of the process, one particular program has consistently shown the most interest.
"I would say South Carolina has been showing me the most interest," Smith said. "I am talking with Coach (Steve) Spurrier Jr. He has just told me that it is a good organization and that they are looking forward to me visiting. He has just been showing me a lot of interest."
When it comes to the Gamecocks, as well as the other schools in the picture with Smith, he doesn't know a great deal about them.
"I don't know much about the schools right now," Smith said. "I am planning to take some tours and visits to learn more about them."
According to Smith, those visits will begin during his spring break in March.
"During spring break, I am going to be seeing South Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, Clemson, and I think North Carolina," Smith said.
When Smith visits schools, he is looking for both the right academic and athletic fit.
"I want a strong academic school system and a team that plays pro-style," Smith said.
As a junior, Smith rushed 295 times for 2,178 yards and 24 touchdowns helping to lead his team to an 11-3 record on the season.
