Smith not ready to name leaders

The offers keep adding up for Atlanta (Ga.) St Pius X School cornerback Geno Smith. When the calendar year began, he had about 10 of them.
And now?

"Twenty-five," Smith told Rivals.com Wednesday night. "It has really picked up."
LSU was the latest to offer, joining an impressive list that includes numerous elite programs in the South, Midwest and West Coast.
"It's caught me off guard," Smith confessed. "I never thought I'd have that many."
The coveted 6-foot, 165-pounder, who recorded 11 interceptions over the past two seasons, claimed to have no leaders at the moment.
"I'm open to everyone," he said.
Four schools, however, are recruiting Smith particularly hard and that hasn't gone unnoticed.
"It's Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn and Florida," Smith said. "I'm usually in contact with my recruiting coach at those schools every week trying to build a relationship. I get a lot of letters and those are the top four that are always on me."
Thus far in 2011, Smith has visited Alabama and Tennessee. Last fall, he attended games at Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.
"I want to check out Florida State, I want to check out LSU, I want to check out Ohio State," Smith said. "I also want to get to the West Coast during the summer sometime."
Besides campus visits, Smith's busy schedule will include an appearance at the Rivals.com/VTO Sports Elite 100 Showcase in Marietta, Ga., on April 9.
Not too long after that, Smith likely will start trimming his list of schools.
"I plan to do that right before the summer begins," he said. "I should have a top 12 or something."
