Small-school star likes Mizzou

Rushing for over 1,000 yards for the second consecutive season and following the trend of big running backs, Portland (Texas) Gregory’s Connell Davis is receiving interest from several Big 12 schools.
“TCU offered and he told them that we wanted go out of state,” coach George Harris, his coach, said. “I know that his favorites are Colorado, Iowa State and Missouri. He really likes Missouri.”

Davis (6-3, 205-pounds) has yet to take a visit since he is leading his team through the playoffs.
He gained 1,275 yards and scored 17 touchdowns last season with a broken bone in his shoulder. He was diagnosed with a shoulder separation after Gregory-Portland’s second game and only missed 12 quarters in 2003, before looking into the nagging injury.
“He’s a tough kid, a hard-worker and is academically qualified,” Harris said.
